In addition to the monitoring priorities set out in this paper, BBC M, as part of the agreement with its US counterpart FBIS, has responsibility for certain monitoring which is not a priority for UK customers, in particular coverage of Western Europe. Where overlap of coverage exists, the FBIS requirement for handling material frequently exceeds that of UK.

The BBC in general makes great use of monitoring material. BBC World Service has its own requirements which are agreed direct with BBC M.
