I submit a draft reply from the Secretary of State to Lord Shawcross' latest letter in which he records his dinner with the
Chinese Ambassador and suggests that the Secretary of State
should meet his Chinese opposite number.
2. Lord Shawcross suggests that the Secretary of State should see Lord Roll. If Mr Goodlad agrees, it might be better to offer
a call on Mr Goodlad for a more general discussion of Hong Kong.
