HKG Civil Service Postings

HKG announced on 22 September the appointment of Anson Chan as the next Chief Secretary, and that Sir David Ford would assume the post of Commissioner, London. A number of other postings were also announced, including Michael Sze to become Secretary for the Civil Service in February 1994, and his post of Secretary for Constitutional Affairs to be taken by Nicholas Ng. Press reaction in Hong Kong has been favourable and there has not been as much criticism as might have been expected of the decision not to fill the post of Commissioner, London with a local.
