Remarks by the British side that the talks will break down and the Patten package will be submitted to Legco amount to political intimidation. If the British side insists on sustaining colonialism in HK and tries to fiddle with the administration, then it is most likely that there will be no agreement. By forcing the Patten package. through, there is bound to be chaos in HK and the Chinese side will have to safeguard HK's prosperity and stability and a smooth transfer.

Mr Patten is trying to exert pressure on China and create more obstacles to the talks when he again threatens to table his reform package in Legco. This shows that he wants to bring chaos to HK and it is all lies when he claims to give more democracy to HK people.
There is no need for Sir Robin McLaren to pretend that he does not understand why the Chinese side criticises Mr Patten for threatening to table his reform package. No agreement has been reached despite the many rounds of talks because the British side refuses to give up the package and has adopted a militant attitude in challenging Chinese sovereignty. What Mr Patten has said is only part of Britain's strategy. He is trying to pass the buck to the Chinese side in case the talks break down. The British side has been going round and round in circles claiming to follow the "three conformities" but in fact it is still sticking to the "three-violations" package.
