The two demonstrations yesterday referred to by Chen was by the Hong Hong Federation of Students (HKFS) and the
The purpose of pressure group Democracy prum respectively. the former was to commemorate June 4 and protest against the imposition of the restricted area around the NCNA building (the action by the HKFS dane at the time when three of its members are being tried for offences under the Public Order Ordinance arising from clash with the police during a demonstration outside the NCNA on 5 June 1992).
The purposes of the latter was to colliden the Chinese authorities for June 4 and to demand the rease of all political detainees in China. (Democracy For staged a similar protest at NCNA same time last year). I sh1 ask the Security Branch for a report but presumably there were no incidents yesterday as Chen did not make any specific complaints except about the
posters.
