LEGCO QUESTION ON COMFORT WOMEN
+
1 I enclose a copy of a letter from the MOD Historical Branch. You may wish to consider including reference to the investigations of war crimes made after the war. It may be worth adding that it is the nature of these alleged offences that women at the time were not wiling to come forward and make complaints. I am afraid that I am not yet in a position to give you information on any exchanges on POWs during the Prime Minister's recent visit to Japan, but I will endeavour to reply to you tomorrow.
