A sensationalist broadsheet which reads like a British tabloid. It is the most popular newspaper among lower income groups. It is not critical of British policies but can lean towards China. It has no correspondent in London.
Ming Pao Daily News

A leading Chinese newspaper read by the educated and well-off. In recent years the newspaper has taken a critical view of both British and Chinese policy. It is considered to be liberal and independent. It has a correspondent in London.
Hong Kong Daily News
Circulation: 90,000 (ABC)
Aimed at a general readership with a style in between the Oriental Daily and the Tin Tin Daily. It is not hostile to Britain or China. It has a correspondent in London.
Express
Circulation: 210,000 (non ABC)
The Express has become a rival of Ming Pao Daily and adopts a similar style. It has had some notable scoops on Chinese politics and Anglo-Chinese relations. Circulation is increasing. It is not hostile to British policy but neither is it critical of China. It has a correspondent in London.
Sing Tao Daily
Circulation: 100,000 (non ABC)

A serious newspaper aimed at the well-educated middle class. Originally pro-Taiwan it has in recent years become more independent and neutral. It is not anti-British, but is losing ground to the Economic Journal and the Economic Times.
