Dear Christopher,

I've been thinking of you recently, both because Hong Kong/China have been so much in the news, and because we were recently retained by the Hong Kong government for a public relations program to promote their image and interests in the U.S. So my Hong Kong reading has increased again!

You must be living through interesting times on Hong Kong/China as well as on other regional issues (assuming always you're still involved with this and haven't been promoted to even giddier heights in the interim). I only see through a glass darkly, being well outside the center of things. But it must be fascinating, and keep you busy.

It's also been interesting for me to have a professional involvement with Hong Kong and China again: we only initiated our program a couple of months back but we've started producing some results: as one example, I'm attaching a bylined article on the MFN issue that we wrote and placed in several major US dailies under the signature of the director of the Hong Kong government's New York office. I hope it all helps!

If you're ever in New York -- or if there's anything I can do for you here -- do please let me know.

Meanwhile, my very best wishes to you and to your family.

Sincerely,

"Qu
