Dear Foreign Secretary,
I'm writing an article about Brian Redhead for the Reader's Digest and they, as is their wont, have asked me to talk to practically everyone who has ever been interviewed by him on the Today programme.
The other day someone at the BBC told me that you had emerged from a Redhead session grumbling that "he gets more like an Old Testament prophet every day." I don't know if this is true but if not it should be and it would be excellent if you could expand on it particularly with a little chapter and verse to add detailed substance to the idea.
If you could do such a thing it would be a great help. A short something in writing or a quick chat would be equally good and I look forward to hearing from you sometime.
I'm also writing a book for Christopher Sinclair-Stevenson on Hong Kong. It doesn't have to be delivered until the end of 1995 and I hope to be able to spend a year or so out there a little later but it would be very useful to have a word with you on the subject some time over the next few months.
