Strengthening the regime based on the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty; continuing to work for its universal application and indefinite extension in 1995

Continuing strengthening and expansion of the Missile Technology Control Regime

To be an early signatory to the Chemical Weapons Convention when it opens in Paris in January and to urge others to do likewise Strengthening the 1972 Biological (and Toxin) Weapons Convention Effective implementation of and wide participation in the UN Register of Arms Transfers Continuing discussion between leading arms exporters on conventional arms transfers to regions of tension Playing a prominent role in international meetings such as UNDCP Major Donors, Dublin Group, CELAD, EPC Drugs Working Group and UK/US High Level Steering Group Supporting UNDCP programmes and activities; bilateral and multilateral diplomatic action to encourage producer/trafficking countries to make greater efforts to tackle the problem; where necessary, assisting with training and equipment (eg AUS Programme Budget and support for Colombian anti-narcotics police); negotiating bilateral asset seizure agreements;
