19. How do you react to the criticism of the present policy from those who have previously played a key role in formulating British policy towards Hongkong (i.e. Sir Percy Cradock, Lord Maclenose) ?

20. China's statements on the reform proposals seem designed to undermine support by warning Hongkong that prosperity and stability may be threatened. How can you reassure Hongkong people that this is not so?

21. Are you concerned about the reports of pressure being put on legislative councillors to vote against the Governor's political reform proposals?

22. What can Britain do to protect them, and others, who fear they have exposed themselves to personal risk after 1997 by publicly supporting British government policy on the 1995 elections in the face of Chinese opposition?

23. Will the British Government take this into account in formulating the quotas for different professions for the second tranch of the British nationality scheme?

24. Do you accept the "best available estimate" of 225,000 beneficiaries from the British nationality scheme that you announced in the House of Commons in December 1989 has proved to be substantially inaccurate, and that Britain has an obligation to look again at the issue of UK passports for Hongkong people in the light of this?

25. Are you concerned about the failure to set a date for the next JLG meeting? Do you believe one can be set within the same timeframe that has spanned previous meetings (i.e. in March) ?

26. Do you believe it is realistic to expect significant progress in the JLG given the political climate that has prevailed since the Governor's policy address?

27. Are you concerned by predictions the JLG will be unable to complete its business by 19972 Will consideration have to be given to handling some of the JLG's business in another arena?
