1. Many thanks for your letter of today's date. I spoke to Sir Richard Luce on the lines of your advice. He would be very grateful if Tom Buchanan could approach Sir Run Run (or Mrs Page if he considers that avenue more appropriate) and ask whether Sir Run Run might spare 20 minutes to see

Sir Nigel Mobbs. Sir Nigel expects to be in Hong Kong between 18 and 20 September.
2.
Sir Richard was aware of the difficulties involving Oxford University, but had not previously heard about the similar difficulties with London. He was alive to the need for the approach to Sir Run Run to be handled with some delicacy, but believes that Sir Run Run, who is known to admire Baroness Thatcher, their Chancellor, may be attracted to the idea of working with an independent university with growing Hong Kong connections.
3.
Sir Richard is content for Tom, in making his approach, to draw upon the original fax enclosed with the letter to Christopher Hum. But if Tom needs any further background Sir Richard would be happy to supply it. Please let me know if Tom would like this.
Sir Richard asked me to let you and Tom know how grateful he is to you both for helping out in this way.
4.
you ever, Ich
J Morris
