The following assumptions have been adopted in arriving at the estimate:
(i) about 50% of the applicants in 1994-95 will continue to apply for
assistance in 1995-96;
(ii) the success rate being 100%, albeit that 74.0% was registered in the
1994-95 exercise; and
(iii) the grant/loan split is to be maintained.
Please note the estimated contribution for the UK Government for the coming exercise as calculated above for your planning of the appropriation of funds. Notwithstanding this, I should be grateful if arrangement would be made to ensure that additional contribution would be provided, should the actual requirement exceed the estimate.
