APPENDIX 1 - The Association for British Commerce in China
The Association has three chapters in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
We met the Beijing chapter over lunch on our visit last September. It has 57 members including Rolls-Royce, Cathay Pacific and Davy Corporation whose representative is also the representative of the CBTG. The President is Eric Smith of Rolls-Royce. They work closely with the Commercial Section of the Embassy in Beijing and the Consulate-General in Shanghai. There is no permanent secretariat in any of the cities and members activities are largely confirmed to monthly lunches. The Chairman of the Guangzhou chapter is Michael Lo of Jardines.
