You asked for a brief note of Jardine Matheson's interests in Malaysia, to feed into your briefing for this call.

2. As far as we are aware, Jardines' only currently involvement is (through Gammons) in the Anglo-Japanese consortium seeking business on the new Kuala Lumpur International Airport. As such, Sir C Powell has been in touch with the department and Mr Slater in KL on a number of occasions. We do not know how much Gammons/Jardines stand to make from their involvement (the total UK share of the consortium's business could run to hundreds of millions). latest information on the consortium's progress is that the Malaysian Government has awarded it a Letter of Intent to appoint it as lead contractor and contract manager for locally-nominated firms.
