CALL BY SIR CHARLES POWELL ON THE SECRETARY OF STATE: WEDNESDAY 21 JULY (1530)
1. I submit a short brief for Sir Charles Powell's call on
the Secretary of State as requested in Ms Drysdale's minute of
14 July. We expect that Sir Charles will discuss foreign
affairs in general rather than exclusively Hong Kong/China.
He is, however, likely to raise the talks in Peking (on which
the Secretary of State is already fully briefed). The
briefing concentrates on Jardine's commercial interests in
Hong Kong, China and the new Kuala Lumpur Airport.
