SHAJIAO 'C' POWER STATION, GUANGDONG
Background:
In April 1992, a GEC Alsthom-led consortium was awarded the £800m contract (UK content, £240m) for the 3 x 660MW Shajiao
'C' coal-fired power station. The station will be owned and operated for 20 years by a joint venture company set up between Guangdong General Power Company and Hopewell Energy (Hong Kong). It is expected to commence operation in June 1995.
BLACK POINT POWER PROJECT, HONG KONG
Background:
In December 1992 CAPCO, a company formed by China Light and Power (CLP) and Exxon Energy awarded the GEC Alsthom/GE (USA) consortium the contract for the 8 x 300MW gas-fired combined cycle power station at Black Point. The UK content is around £530 million. Babcock Energy will be supplying the waste heat boilers. This was a major coup for GECA as the project was won in the face of intense international competition.
