Mr. James Springer of the U.S. Department of Justice Tax Division has brought to my attention the judgment of Judge Ryan, dated June 7, 1993, that the request for judicial assistance made by the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York cannot be honored because the request did not emanate from the United States District Court in Alabama.

(It is not clear to me that we did). In any event, he would appreciate some reassurance that the authorities in Hong Kong are indeed trying to get this matter resolved satisfactorily and as quickly as possible.
