OECD: PROPOSED STUDY ON CHINA'S FUTURE OUTLOOK AND THE HONG KONG DOLLAR
1. UKDEL, OECD have written to the ODA advising them that the OECD Development Centre are considering including in their 1994 work programme a short term study on 'China's Future Outlook and the Hong Kong Dollar''. UKDEL are seeking confirmation that we would have no objection to this study. They have asked for a quick reaction.

We are faxing to you and Peking a copy of UKDEL's letter which provides further information on the proposed study and suggests a possible Line for UKDEL to take. We can see no grounds for objecting to this study, but would welcome your and Peking's views. Grateful for replies if possible by 260900Z.
