OECD: Hong Kong's Observer Status on the Trade Committee
Further to Mrs Regina Ip's letter of 9 November 1993 on the captioned subject
subject (our ref. CR 22/01/1), I enclose, herewith, copy of a draft letter to the Secretary-General of the OECD concerning our application for observer status on the Trade Committee and its Working Party, and should be grateful for your comments by close of play on 11 November 1993. Subject to your comments, we would arrange for the letter to be signed by Mr T.H. Chau (who is currently out of town on duty visit) when he reaches Seattle for the APEC Ministerial Meeting. Our current plan is to submit our application to the Secretary-General of the OECD on 24 November 1993 which would enable the application to be presented to the OECD Council at its meeting on 9-10 December 1993.
2.
For your information, our colleague in the Geneva Office has discussed the draft letter with Mr A Newton of UKDEL, OECD who agrees with the approach adopted.
