Levitte, suggested a little while ago that there would be merit in a tripartite (UK, US, France) discussion of policy towards China. I have no objection to this but I would prefer it to take place after my initial contact with the Administration and I have no intention of discussing Hong Kong on a tripartite basis, except in the most general terms.
