COMMUNICATION BETWEEN EXCO AND LEGCO
Present Position
Legislative Councillors have recently suggested that members of the Executive Council and the Legislative Council should hold regular meetings to improve communication between the two Councils were discussed at the Executive Council. ExCo members fully support the objective of the suggestion and it is precisely with this objective in mind that a system of informal regular meetings between members of the two Councils has recently been instituted.
Members of the Executive Council feel that the informal system has been working well, and provides a useful forum both for the discussion of Government's policy decisions, and for sounding out views
views of the Legislative Council on matters of public interest.
They therefore
believe that the simplest and most effective way of furthering the objective of improved communication between the two Councils would be to allow the informal system to develop along the present line.
