I have only just seen a copy of the letter from the Cabinet Office to John Sawers of 13 December, seeking bids for Cabinet and Cabinet Committees from January to Easter 1994 (Sir John Coles' copy may have arrived just after his departure).
2. Our current bid covers a single item as follows:

Meeting necessary.
2. It cannot be ruled out that OPD(K) could need to discuss Hong Kong again before the Easter Recess, depending on developments in the intervening period. These cannot be forecast with any precision at this stage: and at present the Governor of Hong Kong has no plans to visit London between late January and Easter.
