Elected LegCo President Amendments to Letters Patent and
Royal Instructions
I refer to your letter of 21 December 1992.
You may wish to know that the latest plan is to hold the election for the LegCo President on 19 February (Friday). This entails gazetting Letters
the amendments to the Patent on 18 February, and the amendments to the Royal Instructions on 19 February. You have advised us
that
the approved text of the amendments will reach us before 1 February, and I look forward to receiving it soon. If you anticipate any slippage, however, I would be grateful if you would advise me in the first instance since we will need to finalize the electoral arrangements at our end fairly quickly. Would it be possible for you to have a word with the Privy Council office and let us know the current state of play by Tuesday (19 January)?
