Your Telno 1059: Proposed Visit by Mr Goodlad
1.
The Governor welcomes the visit by the Minister, Mr Dory and you on the days proposed. We will have a number of houseguests in Government House, but we do not see any problems in accommodating the Minister's party here.
2.
We have already reserved a two-hour slot from 2.30 to 4.30 p.m. on 7 January for a possible meeting of the Minister with officials here. We will also work on a programme to cover the rest of the Minister's visit in consultation with the Governor, and will let you have our suggestions for your comments as soon as possible.
3. As the larger part of the Minister's visit will be Saturday and Sunday, and the Legislative Council will still be in recess in that period, the chances are that the Minister would not be able to meet members of LegCo during the forthcoming visit. This may draw some comments from the community or individual Legislative Council members, and we may have to consider some PR handling nearer the time.
