HK Branch issued the following
....
spokesman for the NCNA statement with regard to the tabling of the partial electoral bill in the Legislative Council by the British-HK authorities today:
Without any agreement reached by the two sides, the formal introduction by the British HK authorities of a partial
"electoral" bill into the Legislative Council is another
serious step towards the direction of confronting China. In
such circumstances, any election bill passed by the will be against Sino-British
agreements. Therefore, it will not be acceptable to the
Chinese side.
Legislative Council
вы
The British side's move indicates that the British side has
unilaterally broken off the Sino-British talks, creating
man-made chaos during the latter part of the transition period in HK and posing obstacles to the smooth transition
and handover of power in 1997. The British Government has to shoulder all the consequences.
The British side has ΠΟΥ demolished the foundation of
Sino-British cooperation. The PwC nas at present entered a practical work stage. We welcome people in various sectors of the community in HK who support the Basic Law and a
smooth transition to support and participate more
positively in the work of the PWC for HK's smooth transition and for maintaining HK's prosperity. It is our firm belief that the aim of "one country two systems" will
become a reality and that the various policies laid down in the Basic Law will be implemented.
