HONG KONG: ANNOUNCEMENT BY THE GOVERNOR ON THE PUBLICATION OF DRAFT LEGISLATION
1.
It now looks likely that the Governor will announce, during his Question Time with LegCo on the afternoon of 11 March Hong Kong time, that he will be gazetting his draft electoral legislation on 12 March. I attach a copy of the current version of his statement (NB this is subject to change), and of his supplementaries.
2. This is obviously a statement for the Hong Kong Government to make. But I propose that we should make some supportive comments at the 12.30 News Conference on 11 March. I attach a suggested text: I am clearing this overnight with
Hong Kong.
