recommendations to LegCo in the near future.
17. We welcome this statement. But if we are to give it
practical effect, we will need to move rapidly from general
discussion to consideration of specific electoral
arrangements. I hope that the Chinese side will be in a
position today to give us their views on the arrangements they
would wish to see for the elections in Hong Kong in 1994 and
1995.
