Regarding the Legislative Council's debate
the constitutional development of Hong Kong, our advisory group on LegCo proposed that the ADPL should consider taking more vigorous action to push for the development of democracy in Hong Kong including going to Beijing to fight for it.
The ADPL met the Governor to discuss the unfair and undemocratic aspects of the existing functional constituencies elections.
Regarding whether the ADPL should go to Beijing to fight for democracy, members of the association's executive committee and council were of the view that active considertion could be given to this issue.
An enlarged
meeting of the ADPL's executive committee was in favour of the proposal of going to Beijing to push for the further development of democracy. The meeting also resolved to issue questionnaires to association members to sound them out and to convene an extraordinary general meeting on 31 August to reach a final decision.
The EGM endorsed the proposal of going to Beijing. On the mode of the LegCo election, the EGM had the following proposals :
