Our position in fighting for democracy in Hong Kong:

2.1 Our political Idea

As we have mentioned before, our Association is to advocate democracy and promote all member of

of the Legislative Council to come form direct election. In other words, the ideal case is to further develop the geographic constituency system and eventually make it the only universal franchise. Under this system, each registered voter will have one vote. It is obviously simply and fairer, and will be ready accepted by the majority people in Hong Kong.

The political constraints and limitations

Hong Kong will become one of Special Administrative Region in China after June 30 1997 under the provisions of Joint Declaration signed by the Sino-British governments.

People of Hong Kong, who, are promised by the Sino-British governments, are going to rule the territory by themselves under the China's model of "one country, two Systems".

Under "one country, two systems", Hong Kong shall enjoy a high degree of autonomy.

The future constitutional development beyond 1997 has been stipulated in the Basic Law, mini-constitution of Special Administrative Region which was approved in 1990 April by Chinese government.

The provisions of the Bill of Rights Ordinance on civic and political rights have been keeping in force since 1991.

By considering the said political constraints limitations, our Association put forth a constitutional proposal. The proposal,

The proposal, with aim of developing universal democratic participation, should give full play to the spirit of the Sino-British Joint declaration, and be in line with the Basic Law. And, basing on the political rights that everybody is equal as enshrined in the Bill of Rights, a political system suitable to the long term democratic of Hong Kong should be developed.
