DRAFT LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OATH (TO RIDE THE THROUGH TRAIN IN 1997)
I, [x Y z], swear/solemnly, sincerely and truly declare and
affirm that
1.
I will uphold and observe the Basic Law of the Hong Kong
Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China.
In so doing, I uphold the resumption of the exercise of sovereignty
by the People's Republic of China over Hong Kong from 1 July 1997,
the established basic policies of the People's Republic of China
regarding Hong Kong referred to in the Preamble to the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the principle of
refrain "one country, two systems" and will retain from any activities
aimed at undermining these policies and principle.
2. I will dedicate myself to ensuring the long term prosperity and stability of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China.
3.
I will uphold and observe the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, including
those laws which may govern the prevention of activities the object
of which is the overthrow of the Central People's Government of the People's Republic of China.
4. I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China.
5.
I will conscientiously and truly serve the people of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China as a member of the Legislative Council.
