GUIDANCE NOTE FOR CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICERS
THE QUEEN'S SPEECH
The Queen's speech will be delivered on Thursday 18 November 1993 and
as usual the Prime Minister's Office will require Background Notes from
Departments.

It is essential that the full text of The Queen's Speech is covered by briefing
for the Lobby.

Will Departmental Heads of Information ENSURE that:
a Background Note is prepared on any reference to the Government's
commitment to policy objectives which do not involve legislation as
well as to specific legislation
where a particular extract concerns more than one Department, the
Department with the major interest in that item is responsible for
producing the note and for liaising with interested Departments over
its preparation
no NEW announcements are made in these notes
the notes are factual and comprehensible but not polemical
