DEBATE ON THE MOTION FOR THE SUMMER ADJOURNMENT
16 July 1993
As you will be aware, the debate on the motion for the Summer Adjournment will take place on Monday 26 July. I am, therefore, writing as usual to all Departments to ask for material that the Leader of the House will need when winding up. I attach a list of those topics on which I would welcome a short background note and a line to take. I should be grateful if these could be as brief as possible (maximum of one side of A4 for both the background note and the line to take). Please may I have this briefing by close of play Friday 23 July.
In an attempt to minimise the amount of effort that this exercise usually represents for Departments, I have kept the list as short as possible. Whilst I welcome any further briefing you may wish to contribute, I would, however, ask you to limit your contributions to those subjects which are most likely to be
raised.
I should be grateful if you could send me the names and telephone numbers of officials who will be standing by throughout the debate in case additional briefing is required for any subject that might be raised (ie not just for those subjects for which briefing is to be provided in advance). I hope that the debate will run from approximately 4.00 to 7.00 pm.
All Departments
Yours suverely Van & Stage
