HONG KONG: HANDLING
1.
As agreed, I submit a draft letter from the Minister to Mr Lidington, setting out the text of the Governor's statement to LegCo earlier today. We have checked this carefully against the final version of the statement, which incorporated a number of minor changes.
Once the Minister has signed this letter, we will give the text to News Department, suitably topped and tailed, for them to release.

I think it would be useful if PRU could also arrange to lay a copy of this text in the library of the House today.

PS/Baroness Chalker undertook to arrange for the same text to be sent in response to the PQ answered in the Lords. I am therefore sending them a separate disk.
