REQUESTS TO SEE THE PRIME MINISTER FROM HONG KONG LEGISLATIVE COUNCILLORS
Thank you for your letter of 21 December about the request by two groups of Legislative Councillors to call on the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister only has time to see one of the groups and has therefore taken your advice that he should see Mr. Allen Lee's group. He could see them for three-quarters of an hour at 1145 on Tuesday 19 January.
I should be grateful for a brief for the meeting, to reach me on Monday 18 January.
The meeting with Mr. Lee and his colleagues will take place immediately after the Foreign Secretary's bilateral with the Prime Minister that week. Can I take it that the Foreign Secretary would be free to stay on for the meeting? I know the Prime Minister would welcome that.
May I also take it that you will pass on to Mr. Lee the Prime Minister's agreement to see him and his group? Mr. Lee has written again in the last few days (copy enclosed).
