We fully support the Governo s poposa... -ur pest judgement of how to meet the wish of Hong Kong people for more say in their own affairs. Pleased
to see polls still show 2:1 support of the
community. Note LegCo have also twice passed
general motions supporting the proposals.
Have made clear all along these are proposals.
Willing to consider the views of others, provided that elections will be open, fair and acceptable to
Hong Kong people.
The Governor will be putting proposals to LegCo when
he has completed consultation with ExCo. He will
also be publishing a compendium of others'
proposals. Up to LegCo to reach final decision.
Will accept their judgement.
On relations with China, would not accept the point in your paper that we have adopted a confrontational attitude. All along we have sought to resolve our
differences with China through discussion. We
remain fully committed to the Joint Declaration and
