Retirement on Medical Grounds

CR 92 requires the Secretary of State's approval for the retirement of an officer on medical grounds, if the
officer was selected for appointment by the Secretary of
State. HKG and we see no need to retain this provision.

the Secretary of State's. approval, Ministers will wish to.
know that we have agreed. some other administrative changes:

HKG would need to amend its civil service regulations
to take account of the proposed reduction of the Secretary
of. State's role and would promulgate these amendments in
service-wide circulars. The Secretary of State's continuing overall responsibility for the service as a whole would
