of the Labour Tribunal and the Chief Adjudicator of the Small Claims Tribunal should be paid at District Judge level. I do not think I
could justify a recommendation on such grounds for more pay for the Coroner. The President of the High Court should have the status and
pay of a Justice of Appeal. I would pay the President of the Court of Appeal somewhere between the Chief Justice and Justice of Appeal pay points. The President of the District Court should be paid as a High Court Judge and his assistant between the District and High Court
levels.

The presiders will normally sit as full-time judges of their courts and their special responsibilities will include :-
(1) consultation with judges and administrators
within their courts and with the Administrator
for the Judiciary with a view to advising the
Chief Justice about the need for and use of
judicial time;
(2) control of listing and listing policy and
giving full access to themselves by those
responsible for listing;
(3) providing the judges with judicial leadership; (4) discovering and expressing the legitimate
concerns of the judges;
(5) advising the Chief Justice on the policies of
the Judiciary;
(6) furthering the policies of the Judiciary;
(7) membership of the Chief Justice's Advisory
Group (as to which see below).
