HMOCS: SECURITY VETTING AND RESIDENCE
1. Mr Stringer's letter of 5 February refers. MOD have been unable to identify the source of the advice given in Mr Ricketts' letter of 1 September to Mr Wright, Cabinet Office that members/dependents of members of the RHKP are eligible for a waiver of the 5 year residence rule for employment in vettable posts on the grounds that they are "resident outside the UK because of his or her parents' UK Government service."
2.
There is nothing on our files to identify where this advice came from, but amongst the notes which Mr Stone left for you I have found a minute from Squadron Leader P Hatton which contains this advice. I have spoken to Tony Hardwell, MOD this morning and he has agreed that Mr Stringer will follow this matter up with the Director of Security in the RAF.
3. Given that it took so long for MOD to reply last time, I suggest that I should follow up my phone call with a letter to Mr Stringer confirming that he will now take this matter Dforward with the RAF. I could also include a copy of the note
on this subject which I have revised in the light of comments received from the Cabinet Office.
