I have consulted Charles Kiddle in RAS which acts as our

agents in conducting direct entry recruitment at G7 level in the set Home Civil Service. He has provided the enclosed literature. will see that, although applications can be considered from people up to age 60, employing departments will normally expect several years' service from successful candidates before the normal Civil Service retirement age of 60. This may mean that those aged over 52 may be unlikely to be acceptable unless
unless they have quite outstanding qualities and experience.

Demand for vacancies in the current climate is at a very low level, say 10-15 per year. RAS only advertise on a demand basis but they will hold completed applications until they are asked to fill specific vacancies.
