Pa II F: (a):

Redraft the second sentence as follows:

"In the case of an officer who died in service, determine the unreduced pension which would have been granted under the relevant law if he had retired on the date of his death."

(e): Why do we have different start dates for increasing the dependant's provisional notional pension depending whether the officer retired or died in the service of Hong Kong or elsewhere ? Does McDonald's comment apply only to a dependant whose own pension was granted before the comming into force of the Sineme ? If the officer concerned is still alive, should not the increase formula only apply from the date of his death ?

(g): See comment on Part II A above.

Part III G: See comment on Part 1 A above. For application to retirements only after the Scheme comes into operation, see the last two lines of paragraph 3 of the main part of the Scheme. Please confirm that the passage in square brackets in sub-paragraph (b) is correct.

Part III H: What is the answer to the question in paragraph 23 of my fax of 15th June ? If, however, something on the lines of the present draft provision is required, which alternative ending is preferred ?

Part III I: There are no comments on this draft passage, or, in particular, on the alternative drafting in sub- paragraph (b).
