Mr Cartland and would be grateful for any comments. I have tried to keep the reply as brief as possible and have followed your suggested line. I am afraid it is not possible to say anything more positive in paragraph 2 for reasons which you will understand.

I would be grateful for suggested amendments as soon as possible as we would like the letter to issue next week.
