REVISED DRAFT PROPOSALS BY THE UNITED KINGDOM GOVERNMENT FOR A [RETIREMENT AND] COMPENSATION SCHEME FOR MEMBERS OF HMOCS IN THE SERVICE OF HONG KONG (INCLUDING JUDGES ENTITLED TO BE TREATED IN THE SAME MANNER AS MEMBERS OF HMOCS)
DATE OF INTRODUCTION OF SCHEME
1. The Scheme will come into operation on 1st July 1996.
DEFINITIONS

In this Scheme:
"appointed day" in relation to an officer or judge to whom this Scheme applies, means the 29th June 1997 or the day immediately preceding such earlier day as the Governor may nominate under paragraph 4(2) as the day on which that officer or judge shall retire from the service of Hong Kong or proceed on leave pending retirement;
"entitled officer" means an officer or judge who is an entitled officer in accordance with paragraphs 5, 6 or 7 of this Scheme;
'judicial officer" has the meaning ascribed to it in the Hong Kong Pension Benefits Ordinance (Cap 99);
"Limited Hong Kong Scheme" means the Compensation Scheme for Certain Pensionable Officers promulgated by the Government of Hong Kong and published as an Annex to Hong Kong Civil Service Branch Circular No.24/87 of 9th December 1987;
"maximum sum" has the meaning ascribed to it in
paragraph 9(4);
"normal retirement age" means:
(a) in the case of an entitled officer (not
