emoluments would be taken in determining the pension in respect of his Hong Kong service?
19. Head D [New; M. E]: See the comments in paragraph 18 above. Which of the passages in square brackets do you want ? The first could be a lower amount since this would trigger the safeguard earlier.
20. Head E [New; M. G & H].
21. Head F [E, cf M's fax of 3rd June which is in similar terms to the original Head E in the 21st April text]: Minimal language changes; no change in substance. I have substituted "root pension" for "basic pension" in order to avoid confusin with other places where we use the expression "basic pension".
22. Head G [A in annex II; M. C]:
Substantially changed
to accommodate McDonald's Head C. Is the pasage in square brackets in paragraph (b)(I) correct ?
23. Head H [New; M. F]: As drafted, will there be any difference between the notional gratuity and the actual gratuity ? If so, would it not be less obscurantist to say that the notional gratuity is the same as the actual gratuity? But see the comments in paragraph 18 above.
24. Head I [New]: I have had no instructions on this point and the draft is therefore guesswork. Please comment, in particular, on the passages in square brackets in paragraph (b).
