officer's Hong Kong service, and then apply the provisions of the relevant law to that pension to calculate the gratuity in accordance with the option exercised by the officer;
(c) Divide the sum obtained at paragraph (b)(I) or (b) (II), as appropriate, by XX; the resulting sum will be denominated in pounds sterling;
(d) Increase the sum obtained at paragraph (c) in April of each year up to the date of the officer's retirement by the appropriate percentage increase payable in respect of a lump sum as provided by the relevant Orders made under section 59 of the Social Security Pensions Act 1975, as from time to time in force as if the sum were a pension begining on 8th April 1991;
(e) The sum obtained at paragraph (d) is the
sterling value of the officer's notional Hong Kong gratuity.
H: Members of HMOCS ("officers") who retire from the service of the United Kingdom Government or other Scheduled Government and elect to commute part of their Hong Kong
pension for a gratuity
To calculate the sterling value of an officer's notional Hong Kong gratuity:
(a) Identify the gratuity as awarded under the relevant law;
(b) Convert the sum obtained in Hong Kong dollars at paragraph (a) into sterling at the following rate of exchange:
(i) the rate of exchange on the date on which the Scheme came into operation; or
(ii) the rate of exchange on his last date of
