Members will wish to know that the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Association called on the Minister of State, the Rt. Hon. A. Goodlad MP, earlier this week to restate the Association's continuing concern and frustration about the delay by HMG in presenting revised proposals on matters of concern to HMOCS Members serving
in Hong
Hong Kong. As detailed in the letter handed to the Chairman, Mr Goodlad said he was anxious that HMG should present revised proposals to the Association as soon as possible, and that further consultation should take place shortly thereafter.
The Chairman has responded to Mr Goodlad's letter, and I shall keep you advised of developments.
Chris Birch has had to step down from the Committee because of a conflict with work
with work interests; in accordance with Article 5.21 of the Association's Constitution, the Committee has co-opted Chris Glover to replace him. I am sure all Members will wish to join the Chairman and Committee in formally acknowledging Chris Birch's outstanding contribution to the work of the Association.
