HMOCS ARRANGEMENTS: LEGISLATIVE TIMETABLE
1. Although no final decision has yet been made on the package of arrangements for Hong Kong HMOCS officers, Mr Fifoot has already undertaken work on the draft compensation and sterling pension safeguard schemes.
2. Mr Fifoot has advised that we will require primary legislation to implement both these schemes. We are not clear what the procedure is for obtaining a slot within the legislative timetable for such legislation and would be grateful for your advice on how to go about arranging this and how far in advance we would need to do it.
3. Please could you let me have an early reply as we have promised to advise the Treasury about this matter.
