I attach - which I hope are much clearer instructions on the determination of the "notional HK pension" for the purposes of the pension safeguard scheme for Hong Kong HMOCS officers.
2. As you will see, the revised instructions cover the "scenarios" listed in the attachment to my minute of 25 May to Nigel Whitney. I also attach 6 worked examples which help to explain how we will determine the notional HK pension for the single and multiple service cases A. to C. Cases D to F are relatively straight forward. All we need to do here is identify
correct rate of exchange to be applied to the actual HK pension and then increase it through RPI to the year in which the top-up is to be made. Cases G to I follow the same rules for cases A to C. I hope this clear.
3. I will let you have some further instructions on Dependants pensions shortly, together with worked examples.
