SPECIAL REGULATIONS BY THE SECRETARY OF STATE
REGARDING
HER MAJESTY'S OVERSEAS CIVIL SERVICE
In exercise of the power reserved to Her Majesty's Government
in the United Kingdom in paragraph 7 of the Special
Regulations of the Secretary of State regarding Her Majesty's Overseas Civil Service (3rd Edition published in Miscellaneous
No 520), I, Douglas Richard Hurd, Secretary of State for
Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, hereby make the following
variation to the said Regulations:
There shall be added the following new regulation to be
numbered 6A:
"6A.
Notwithstanding the foregoing regulations, no person for the time being holding a pensionable office in the service of
the Government of Hong Kong shall be eligible for appointment
as a member of Her Majesty's Overseas Civil Service unless:
(i) his application for appointment was received by the
Secretary of State, or by the appropriate authorities of the
Hong Kong Government on his behalf, before 1st March 1993, and
(ii) he held a pensionable office in the service of that
Government on pensionable terms before 1st May 1993."
