To calculate sterling value of a dependant's notional Hong Kong pension:

(a) Determine the officer's pension as granted in accordance with the relevant law or, if the officer commuted any part of his pension, the pension which would have been so granted if he had not commuted any part of his pension. In the case of an officer who died in service, determine the unreduced pension which would have been granted if he had retired on the date of his death. This produces the officer's basic pension for the purposes of this calculation as denominated in Hong Kong dollars.

(b) Determine the pension granted to the dependant in accordance with the relevant law. This produces the dependant's basic pension for the purposes of this calculation as denominated in Hong Kong dollars.

(c) Calculate the officer's notional Hong Kong pension in accordance with whichever of Heads A, B Ĺ or D of this Annex is appropriate, save that:

(i) where the officer commuted a part of his own pension, the commutation will be ignored and the notional pension shall be calculated as if the officer had been granted an unreduced pension; and

(ii) no account shall be taken of any percentage increase rate obtained from an Order made under section 59 of the United Kingdom Social Security Pensions Act 1975.

This produces a sum in pounds sterling.

(d) Calculate the sum in pounds sterling that bears the same relation to the officer's notional Hong
